Dave and I went off to the 'castaway beach' yesterday for a few hours of swimming in beautiful azure seas. This was heaven and over far too quickly.
Last evening was the gala buffet at 11.45 pm - we gave that a rain check ! Early bed times have been the order of the day - with quite a few snoozes during the day too !
Today is Wednesday and Dave and Dad have gone off whale and dolphin watching. I am wondering into town shortly. It was 28 degrees at 7 am today so I will be seeking shade, but may just nip into the pool as most people have got off the ship today
Departing tomorrow, and the holiday seems to have gone quickly.
How long till the next one??

Last chance saloon
St Kitts - a beautiful sunny day again ( yawn yawn !)
I was off on a scenic railway tour and joined the happy throng. This was a lovely trip with the additional benefit of a choir ( well actually just three locals)
They must have looked at the average age of the throng on the train and gave us a beautiful rendition of 'Enjoy yourself it's later than you think'

Sunday in Tortola
We arrived here at lunch time today 90 degrees and a lovely breeze
This is a lovely island and well worth a visit
H did a tour on a bus and Dave and I went off on a jeep safari - just realigning my backbones !
We were taken to a fabulous beach and had an hour there in the gorgeous turquoise sea - fantastic. Lots of yachts around so a bit of a millionaire's playground. Wonder if our numbers came up on Saturday????

Santo Domingo
I went on a coach tour - Panoramic Santo Domingo - well there is not a lot panoramic or otherwise ! This place was allegedly discovered by Christopher Columbus, but I think that it was probably one that he quickly forgot !
There is a Cathedral, but we did not stop there ! I mentioned this fact to a fellow passenger and he said ' well, it's because it's old - they're closing them all down - it's all mosques now' Such pearls of wisdom are available free on a cruise tour !
Watched a very good talent show by the passengers - quite a variety of talent, pianist, guitarist, mouth organ, Dean Martin ( not exactly !) and Frank Sinatra ( not at all !)
In all 13 participants several of whom could easily have got on at the Foresters- including Ella Fitzgerald ( very nearly) and a lady who gave a beautiful rendition of ' I dreamed a dream' from Les Miserables

You've heard of the Bermuda triangle?
Well Dad's trip to Trinidad has been documented. They were told that Tobago could be reached from Trinidad in around twenty minutes in a speed boat. So we were more than surprised that our journey on Braemar took 9 hours ! We watched the pilot boat at sailaway fro around 25 minutes, so assumed that he was taking us all the way there ! However we just carried on sailing through the night - a mystery.
The entertainment on Sunday night was something to be seen , and I am so sorry that Lord C missed this as he could have written a book. A vi son appeared in a pink velvet jacket and a kilt of a pink hue, looking a little like Danny la Rue's younger brother. Apparently straight from the West End ( They didn't explain exactly which West End, Glasgow springs to mind !)
Anyway we had a laugh.
It's a sea day today and tomorrow and so it's a very leisurely day

A trip out 15th November
I had booked a trip for Trinidad. This was the city highlights and Benedictine Monastery. Boarded the coach to be greeted by our guide Lester- you can hear the dialect already
Off we set and Lester pointed out the various impressive and very colourful houses in the city. He failed to remark on the various bodies lining the pavements - presumably asleep - but you never know !
One very impressive building had just been completed for the performing arts - built by the Chinese- well they make everything now !
We called in at the botanical gardens . Lester said that we would stay for around twenty minutes as as there were a lot of buses we were to make a note of the number - or 'dee number'.
I had a wander around the gardens which were very pretty, and as it was very warm returned to dee air conditioned bus. Eventually all returned except - you guessed - one passenger. Lester waited patiently but became more anxious as time passed. You could see him compiling the missing person report in his head ! - male Caucasian, 5.7 blue hat and glassed. Just then he was spotted in another group and Lester sprang into action and bundled him back on board - after sentencing him to 50 lashes of the cat - no not that cat !
Then up we went to Mount Benedict - a very winding road stopping en route for a photo opportunity including, in the far distance, Venezuela. Onwards to the Monastery. First a stop at at a guest house where as part of their religion they must provide shelter to any traveller. A briefing re St Benedict and then up to the church, back to the guest house for a very nice afternoon tea, and then back to the ship

Saturday - a sea Day
Sea day and travelling through the Granadines - very slowly - around 6 knots. A lazy day, although I have done some silk painting. This afternoon there's a talk from a BBC Wimbledon commentator - he was also the umpire in the McEnroe /Connors final. Am giving the talk re arthritis a miss - although I think that there may be a number of candidates !. Only one child spotted so far.
Our dinner companions warned us as soon as we met them last night that they had requested a table for 2 in the other restaurant, and during the meal the maitre d confirmed their wish, so tonight we could be 3 Billy no -mates !
Barbados was hot, but there were quite a few sudden showers too. No rain today - just plenty of relaxing and reading. Hopefully going for a swim today - the pool is filled with sea water and is 27 degrees - wow ! Can't wait for a beach trip.
Dad off on a trip in Port of Spain tomorrow - Dave and I will probably just have a mooch. Not seen any dolphins or whales yet and can't magic them Curran - style !
Janet and Dave - we have next year's brochure and are perusing it with H who is keen to book the same suite again

The intrepid trio start the journey to the airport mainly uneventfiul - sky clear. I pointed out the constellation Orion to Julie who replied ' oh yes' !
Once at the airport - quick check in - a little light refreshment and Julie did some duty free foraging and then to the departure gate. I was quickly segregated from the hoi polloi - left turn at the aircraft entrance and seat 3E
The journey in the posh bit was punctuated with frequent supplies of beverage, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Food was quite edible. It is a long trip , but endurable. I was a little concerned at the preponderance of Daily Mail readers in the posh bit - could this be the influence of the Curran's ??
However the tone was raised a little when I saw a woman reading a biography of Eleanor of Aquitaine - Whatever !
At the end of the flight- brilliant - no collecting of luggage - straight off the plane onto the tarmac where a bus took us straight to the ship. I was amused by the instructions for an emergency on the window of the coach - in Chinese ! How is your Mandarin ??
Weather in Barbados hot - 30 degrees
Once on board I went straight to my suite - next door to the Curran's old place. It's very impressive with a welcoming bowl of fruit and champagne. Later I had a look at Julie and Dave's cabin which was equally impressive, but no champagne !
Ate in The Palms - very good.
On entering the ship Julie got a kiss off the girl who did the 'creez' last time - she remembered her !
After our meal and unpacking we christened the suite with the champers and so to bed
